Yurts

FLAMES AND VIEWS!

The sweetheart yurt was the perfect hideaway for myself, my partner and our dogs - large space, cosy, self-contained and comfortable with such superb views morning, noon and night. It didn't feel cramped in the slightest when we were all relaxing at the end of the day. Toilet/shower block was excellently kept, and the outdoor kitchen area was equipped with everything needed for simple meals. The yurt heats up REALLY quickly once the stove is on, but temp drops when it's unlit so get used to stoking the flames but don't put on too much wood like we did! Stones throw from town, but perfect for a taste of outdoor living. Ideal if you need a base camp with dependable hot water, a cosy bed and a unique vibe.

Our 2nd time staying in the yurts as a family of 5. Another fabulous stay and we all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday! Very clean, cosy and spacious such a great location to visit nearby attractions also. Julie & Joe are super friendly and helpful too. We will be back 😉

A wonderful retreat in an amazing location - we absolutely loved our stay here ; it had everything we needed. We spent four nights here with our three boys and it was brilliant - comfy beds, brilliantly equipped kitchen, cosy log burner for the rainy night, beautiful magical yurt and stunning view. Brilliant value for money too - highly recommend this very special place .

What an idyllic location to have a holiday. We had such a fantastic time here. The Yurts are so cosy, the surrounding field had so much to explore.

Yurt was fantastic (and much bigger than expected). Great kitchen facilities and our boys loved playing in the stream, on the rope bridge and in the treehouse. Brilliant location - amazing views of Ben Nevis and loads of outdoor fun right on the doorstep. Ten out of ten.

Cannot thank Julie enough, this wee holiday was nothing short of transformative! What a location - just a lovely site, the yurt was incredible, the double bed luxurious, the wood burning stove a lovely touch but also just the thing waking up on a chilly morning - although the yurt held its comfortably cool temperature very well, and was toasty snug when the fire was going. Open air kitchen well equipped with a range of pots pans, plates, mugs and other utensils, loos and showers no frills yet quirky and in keeping with the low footprint feel of the whole place, but plenty warm showers. If you want to get close to nature, meet like-minded folk, and wake up in a unique 'building' to the mist curling over the Nevis range, this is the place to go! B Gribbon

One of our best air bnb experiences so far. The location is incredibly peaceful with beautiful views of Ben Nevis. The yurts are full of character, warm, comfortable and offer plenty of space. This is the perfect balance between being immersed in nature whilst still being warm, dry and comfortable. The kitchen / bathroom facilities are also good. All in all a great base to explore fort William and enjoy some time out. Highly recommended! Kitty

This was be most amazing place to stay. The view was stunning and the yurt was so cosy. It was a brilliant feeling to be camping but still have a double bed and fluffy duvet! We loved keeping the fire stoked although it was so warm in there that we didn't need it. There was a lovely friendly vibe from Julie and the other guests. We shared a meal on our first night with another family and toasted marshmallows. I would definitely recommend this airbnb to others. Sxx Sophie

A must stay location if you're looking for something a bit different Both the sweetheart yurt and the shepherds hurt were fantastic , good value for money and so cosy, we didn't want to leave . The little log burners and candles were the icing on the cake . The location is literally perfect if you plan to tackle Ben Nevis We also loved the communal kitchen area where we got to meet all the other guests We will absolutely be returning. Rebecca

June 2017

We had a great stay in the Eagle Yurt! Such a gorgeous spot, and the yurt was very comfortable, warm and spacious. The communal kitchen was very useful, there was everything you need and it was nice to get to know the other guests that were staying at the same time. I cannot speak highly enough of this place, definitely worth a visit! I hope to be back, and would definitely stay here again if in the area. Thank you! 🙂 Sara

Waking up to fields of grass, sheep, mountains and a tiptap of rain on the yurt's canvas top was exactly what I needed this holiday. Not only were the accommodations cozy and clean, the space just makes you take a deep breath and enjoy your time in nature. I enjoyed cycling up to the river and then hiking along it one day. It is not far from the yurts and you can actually take that road all the way around to Spean Bridge. I learned that the hard way as i cycled along the main road. Mary

We absolutely loved the yurts! What a great way to spend time in the shadow of Ben Nevis. The yurt itself was really spacious and well equipped with a sofa, lots of candles and night-lights and a very effective wood burning stove. There was plenty of room for the bunk bed as well as a very comfortable double. What we didn't expect was the "open air" communal kitchen which really made the trip (especially as the weather was pretty grim). We could sit under cover enjoying a meal and a drink in front of the log burner watching the mountains through the mist. We bought some food locally and used the pots, pans, cutlery and herbs & spices provided in the kitchen. Fab. Julie dropped by to say hello and make sure everything was OK and was always available on her mobile if needed. Thanks Julie for such amazing accommodation. Robin

April 2014

Quite simply the best Easter ever. Julie gave us a fantastic welcome (Easter eggs for the kids), lots of rainy day activities even though the weather was perfect the kids still got out all the games. Idyllic spot. Brill views. Saw twin lambs being born - loads of other animals around the farm. Wonderful kitchen and social space. We loved the gypsy caravan and will definitely be back. (The Haston - Howleys girls weekend)

April 2014

What a lovely Easter weekend. We are sad to leave our cozy Eagle yurt. The Farm and surronuding area is wonderful. We have watched the baby lambs for hours. All of the facilities were perfect and we appreciated all of the personal touches (shortbread, tea, a vase of daffoldils ad especially a visit from the Easter bunny. We were blessed by a sunny three days and enjoyed a gondola ride and hike up Ben Nevis, a drive and picnic on Camusdarach beach and a hike to Steall falls. Evenings were peaceful with other guests in the communal kitchen. What a great place. Hope to be back soon. (~The Hudsons)

Aug 2014

Once again, stunning place, stunning views, fabulous facilities, beautiful yurts and glorious weather. We have once again enjoyed a fabulous holliday at Great Glen Yurts. Will be recommending this place to everyone as I always do! Will be back. (Stephen, Nicola & the boys)

Aug 2014

This place is truly magical. We live busy lives with very little time to look around the beautiful home we call Scotland. Our visit to the Great Glen has given our family the chance to stop and relax. We loved every minute of it! Thank you for creating this heaven on Earth! (The Duffys)

July/Aug 2013

8th July 2013

We came for my 30th Birthday, we conquered Ben Nevis, we squealed at the beauty of the yurts, the view, the horses. We laughed til we cried, we plotted about how to steal the showers that were better than ours. We love the compost loo and marvelled at there being no odour. We got freaked out by the white ghostly wolf, faun thing. We're all planning when we'll come back for special occasions or with future love conquests. We loved it, we will be back! Gracias, Merci, Vielen dank, Merci, cheers pal!

19th June 2013

My boyfriend Josh and I had the most amazing time at your yurts! They're so comfortable and in such beautiful surroundings. Definitely one of the most memorable places I've slept! Actually, THE most memorable. I shall be singing your praises to everyone I know. I hope we can come back one day!

June 2013

Thank you for an amazing weekend! Every morning new woke up to blue skies, sunshine and those incredible views of Ben Nevis. The kitchen area is so cute with the bunting and open side letting the sunshine in. Wish we could have stayed much much longer. We'll definitely be back!

June 2013

Thanks for a wonderful stay - the yurt is extremely comfortable and we LOVED our hamper and what a view of Badass Ben (whom we somehow climbed today). You really have thought of every little detail and we've had a fun and relaxing time. Great fire pit by the way! ~We would happily recommend Great Glen Yurts! Many thanks again, Greg, Stacy, Ben & Hetty

May 2013

The yurts are amazing! All of us children had a great time playing in the forest. The yurts were spectacular and definitely not what we expected, Thank you very much, The Scott family. PS the showers were great.

Bloody amazing! Raw, powerful beauty at its very best!! Spiritual journey in every sense!! Thank you. M/A

May 2013

We had a fantastic time in Eagle yurt - wouldn't have minded another night! Hired bikes from Nevis cycles and took in the canal and Neptune's Staircase before stopping for lunch at loch Lochy. Then up the Gondola where we could see the yurts from the top! Came back to a nice cosy fire and a wee walk through the woods - love the bridge! Will be telling everyone to come and have an adventure like this. must dash, away on the Jacobite! Thanks a bunch Carol McMilllan

April 2013

This was a surprise birthday and although concerned at first as to how it would go down and the cold wet weather, all was resolved as soon as we parked up and had a warm welcome by Julie. Within minutes we were comfortably settled into the yurt way of life. The camp has all you'd ever need, constructed in a way to encourage warmth, comfort, and social interaction. A real haven away from it all. We spent 2 days here and really loved getting back to basics, so much so I even found myself questioning and formulating how I could one day live like this. Thank you so much for a perfect stay. (Natasha & Chris, North London)

April 2013

What a wonderful place to be - a warm welcome and all the comforts. Our riders had enjoyed their best day's cycling so far then a warm, inviting, brilliantly equipped venue for the night. Thank you so very much for everything including for Thea and I our most comfortable night so far in the aptly named sweetheart yurt! Thea really did feel pampered. With kindest best wishes, Joe Thea, and all the end-to-end cyclists. xx

May 2013

Just returned from a weekend with three other families and can't rate the stay at Great Glen Yurts highly enough. We took over all the yurts and therefore had the place to ourselves and would definitely recommend it for a group of people wanting to have a fun weekend. We were celebrating a 40th birthday and the owners even turned up with a cake shortly after we arrived. The yurts themselves are very comfortable and the log burners keep them very warm. Our children (7 of them, mainly teenagers) disappeared for hours at a time into the woods behind the camp and had a ball. We are already talking about when the next trip can be.

April 2013

Great Glen Yurts was an amazing experience. We were greeted by the friendly owner when we arrived who told us where everything was. The Yurt site offers everything you need for a relaxing break. The views from the site of Ben Nevis are awesome and the stars are really, really bright at night too making it a beautiful place both day and night. The Yurts themselves are really something - we stayed in the Eagle Yurt, the orange one which looks right up to Ben Nevis. The Yurt was fully furnished with a double bed - with two duvest covers and a spare one in a basket, we took a sleeping bag just in case it was cold but there was enough there. There was also a bunk bed and a single futon bed so it can sleep 5. There was also two very comfy poang style chairs for lounging in front of the wood burning stove. Also a selection of free teas and some tasty homemade short bread. We bought some logs for the fire at a garage nearby but once we arrived we discovered we didn't need them - logs and kindling were provided in the yurt as well as a fully loaded log shed right next to our Yurt. We collected lots of extra kindling from the woods across the river behind the Yurt. The Yurt was toasty and warm with the fire!Lovely walks around the Yurt site with nice views. The campers kitchen was the best I have seen - everything you need; pots, pans, plates, cups, coffee pots, utensils, extra free candles, lots of tables and chairs plus a nice chimnea to light up while you cook your dinner al fresco and eat outside. There was also a big gas stove, electric kettle - perfect for filling up your flask for the yurt - and an electric toaster. In addition there was two bathrooms both with a toliet and shower, also a plug for drying your hair - defo needed at this time of year. We had a lovely relaxing time for our anniversary without our two toddlers 🙂 This is defo a good place to go either as a couple or with the kids. We will defo return hopefully in the summer with the kids. Yurts are an excellent alternative accommodation with a touch of luxury. Room Tip: We enjoyed the Eagle Yurt - looking up to Ben Nevis and close to the wood shed.

April 2013

Just spent the weekend at great glen yurts. Excellent place to stay amazing views and atmosphere. I have stayed at many wig wams and camping sites etc but nothing beats these. The kitchen dining room area is also excellent and the fire pit keeps you warm in to the wee hours.

June 2012

What an amazing place! We had the benefit of stunning weather in June, but there's so much character even rain wouldn't ruin this beautiful setting. The communal kitchen facilities were super and we got to meet other visitors and chat while drinking tea and wine!! The views are stunning and it's a great base for travellers and climbers alike. The accommodation is so unique, the log burner toastie and the beds are snuggly. I can't recommend this highly enough, even the loos and showers are fun! (Rachel P, Sheffield)

Aug 2012

This has to be the most amazing kitchen ever! Perfect for concocting, creating, (& warming), simply beautiful. And such a wonderful view of that North Face! Love Eagle! Andrew, Helen & Bex xxx

July 2012

A more peaceful, beautiful spot would be hard to find. The yurt was fantastic and stepping out in the morning was like stepping into the page of an Arthurian legend (I.C.A.E Ross)

July 2012

The most palatial bedroom ever, garden of Eden. Will tell everyone about it but at the same time we should keep it secret!! Share only with good people! (Karen & Andy & Ruaridh)

July 2011

This spot is a little Gem. Thanks for saving us from the huge commercial caravan and campsite down the road. The barn is fab, we love it! Lovely horses, lovely views, lovely setting, great weather. Just amazing! See you next year for my hen do! Cheers Kim & Steph

We thoroughly enjoyed our the last part of our honeymoon lounging in Sweetheart yurt. Thanks. Great views of Ben Nevis and lots of great walks and stuff to do on the doorstep. Will be back with lots more friends next Spring! (Caleb & Susanna)

Sept 2012

It took all of a few seconds to realise we wouldn't forget this place. Its completely beautiful here. The view is stunning (especially at night in full moon, wow!) Yurts are just perfect. Thanks for making my rented accommodation feel completely substandard. The atmosphere is so relaxed, helped alone by this amazing outhouse kitchen/ bar / diner/ lounge ... It really make this place. Thank you so much, you can see from my waffling that we totally loved it here. Definitely coming back. Mucho Thank you, Rian & Becky (Otter Yurt)

April 2012

We had a lovely time here away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us. A wonderful, unique experience. Will be sure to tell others! (Keith & Kirstin)

June 2012

Our first full day in yurt paradise, four days after our wedding in the rain at home in Glesga. Private yoga sesh from Soph - amazing. Looking forward to Indian head massage later, Lovin it! - Final day 🙁  yesterday we climbed Dun Deardail Fort, one of the shortest walks that began near the big Ben. It was lovely - it says it takes 3h40mins to climb down but it doesn't really. Last night it rained throughout the night - the more rain, the more cosy and beautifully detached we felt. Wonderful. We loved our honeymoon retreat from the world. It was perfect for us (and the ned in Otter is incredibly comfy!!) We've put up some of our wedding bunting in the fab new kitchen to add to the happy karma of Great Glen Yurts. Thank you to Sophie and Julie - its a fab initiative and we'll be back (and hi to Sarah and Jeremy who are coming in July for their birthday weekend - enjoy!) Mr & Mrs Bennett
